After Holiday Party! No Tips or Tricks, Just a Wish… or a Spell

The day after a holiday party always feels strange.

Not fun-tired.

Not relaxed.

Just… confusing.

I walked into my kitchen and honestly paused for a second, like my brain needed time to load.

There were food containers everywhere — some with food, some empty, some with lids that clearly belonged to something else.

-A big pan still sitting on the counter.

-Random grocery bags I forgot to unpack.

- Crumbs in places that didn’t make sense.

And I kept thinking…

“We didn’t even do that much. How did this happen?”

Messy kitchen after holiday party.

The mess nobody posts

People post the party.

The food.

The table.

The happy moments.

Nobody posts the day after.

The kids are home more. Everyone snacks all day. The trash fills up fast.

The house feels louder even though nothing is actually happening.

It’s not a disaster. It’s just annoying.

And for some reason, everything feels slightly out of place at the same time.

A refrigerator that full with left over food from the party.

I didn’t clean. I didn’t organize.

I didn’t pull anything out.

I didn’t match containers.

I didn’t start fixing anything.

I just made coffee and stood there, staring at the kitchen like it might magically explain itself.

At that point, I honestly wished I had a Harry Potter wand.

Not to clean — just to swiff everything back where it belongs.

Containers, bags, crumbs, random stuff on the counter…

Just whoof — everything goes back in place by itself.

No organizing.

No decisions.

One spell and it’s done. But of course… no wand.

Just me, holding my coffee, waiting for magic that never came.

A tried mom who just look at the messy ketchen.

This is just one of those days

There wasn’t some big problem to solve.

It was just:

  • people being home
  • food being eaten
  • routines being off
  • the house being used more than usual

That’s it. No lesson. No meaning.

Just one of those in-between days where nothing feels finished.

And that’s all this post is

This isn’t a post with tips or tricks. I’m not here to tell you how to clean, organize, reset, or fix anything.

I just wanted to say this:

If your house feels messy after a holiday and you feel tired just looking at it — you’re not alone.

A lot of us are standing in our kitchens thinking the exact same thing.

We’re all just one Harry Potter wand short of having it together.

And honestly?

That’s okay.
