Hey Mama, What Do You Do to Flip a Bad Day?
I’m sure many days are good, some days are great... and some days? Not!!
So what do you do on a rough day as a mom? You know—one of those days when you don’t even get a chance to breathe. It has to be something quick and effective, right? Because, let’s be real—we don’t have time to do the fancy stuff.
I read some articles that recommend things like meditation, yoga, going for a walk, spa day, bubble bath... blah blah blah.
Honestly? It sounds lovely. But do you actually have time for that? 😂
I’m just gonna spill the truth right here—as someone who’s super health-conscious, eating ice cream is a big deal for me. I’m about to be 50 in a couple months, and with a 5-year-old still running around, my goal is to live long enough to see Tony turn 20. That’s when I’ll feel like I can die happy. 😆
That’s probably one of the cons of having kids later in life—but one of the pros is you care about your health way more. I always think carefully about what to eat and how to move—not too little, not too much—just enough to keep up with my 5 and 11-year-olds without(2) Smell something good.
I know this sounds weird, but peppermint, orange, or lavender essential oil can instantly calm you down. I keep a roller in my kitchen drawer now. breaking myself in the process.
So yeah, allowing myself to have a scoop of chocolate ice cream on a bad day? That’s my kind of compensation. 😅
But then I started wondering… what else could feel just as good as ice cream—without the calories or the guilt?
🍦Here’s What I Found: Quick Mood Lifters for Moms
(1) Put on a happy song—LOUD.
Even just 1–2 minutes of music that makes you smile (or dance like a crazy person while folding laundry) totally resets your brain.
(2) Smell something good.
I know this sounds weird, but peppermint, orange, or lavender essential oil can instantly calm you down. I keep a roller in my kitchen drawer now.
(3) Text your funniest friend.
Not the mom who’ll give you advice—the one who’ll send you a GIF of a screaming goat and say “same.” 😂
(4) Do a “30-second tidy.”
Pick a tiny area and clean it. Just one drawer, one corner, or one shelf. It gives your brain a little hit of “Yay, I did something right today!”
(5) Step outside—even just to the mailbox.
Sunlight + fresh air = actual science-backed stress relief. Even 3 minutes helps.
(6) Fake scream into a pillow.
Not elegant. But effective. 😆
(7) Bonus: Give yourself permission to stop.
Put on a cartoon. Give the kids crackers for lunch. Sit down. Drink something warm. Stare at the wall for 5 minutes. It’s okay. You’re doing enough.
💛 So... what about you, Mama?
What’s the thing that flips your day around?
Is it coffee? A hot shower? Hugging your kid? Hiding in the bathroom? 🤣
Drop it in the comments—I’ll pick one I love and send you a surprise gift 💌
(Because moms deserve fun stuff too.)
